Summer Special
Congratulations to Lily Dick from everyone at Alleygators
Our very own Gator Girl, Lily Dick has been selected to make her debut in the Aussie Women 7’s Team to contest the next round of the HSBC World Series Tournament in Dubai this weekend.
Lily played her first game for Gator Girls as a 15 year old against The Coffs Harbour Snappers in May 2015. From there she has played her way through the ranks, starting with selection in a combined Gold Coast schools team then QLD Under 17, QLD Under 18, QAS Development, QLD Open, AUSSIE Under 18 and AUSSIE Development.
Lily was part of the Squad of Development players and three Senior players who were able to win the Oceania 7’s in Fiji earlier in the month. After two World series Tournaments as 13th player and off the back of her form in Fiji and her consistent training in the early part of the season Aussie Coach, John Manenti has given Lily her first chance in the 12 and she will make her Debut in Dubai next weekend.
Southern Cross Rugby Academy
Southern Cross Rugby Academy has now entered our 6th week of 7, and our players are still going as strong as when they started. We were lucky to be gifted with some extra heavy truck/tractor tyres from Senior committee member, Tony Penhallurick for the players to “play” with, and though the excitement was to there to see, after a few rounds of flipping them that soon changed haha. To credit, all our players have had a go, and some are easily flipping for multiple reps amongst the joys of sleds and body weight work, pictured are 5 players in this year’s U12’s – Blaze Moana, Lochlan Smith, Ryan Wildman, Harry Felton and Callum Simpson, while U15’s tight head prop Luke Dines is dragging 140kg’s on the sled backwards for 100m!!!
Our last week next week will present our players the last chance to push hard in our testing, and improvements have been made from the get go in each exercise. Looking forward to working further with the players in the pre-season of 2019, and seeing them all flourish through the Rugby season also.
Off Season Junior Sessions
Our off season Junior Development Sessions have continued into our 2nd week and another good turnout for November Rugby. Great work by all the players over the 3 sessions we cover – U10’s to U13’s, U14’s to U16’s and Girls. Great work by all parents to get these little and not so little, Alleygators’ players down for end of the year Rugby fun.
