WHAT A SEASON FOR THE GREEN & WHITE!

What a season it’s been for the PBC Alleygators, and we’re not finished yet!

This year saw all three of our senior teams make the finals, a fantastic achievement and a reflection of the hard work, commitment and Gators spirit shown across the club all season.

And now, our 2nd Grade men are GRAND FINAL bound! They’ll take on Nerang this weekend with the chance to finish an incredible season with some silverware.

We want to see the sidelines packed with green and white as we get behind the boys for one last BIG push. Bring the family, bring your mates, wear your Gators colours and make some noise!

As we head into the final weekend, we’re incredibly proud of what our entire club have achieved this year and grateful to every player, coach, volunteer, sponsor and supporter who has been part of it.

One game to go. Let’s bring it home 💚🤍

RUGBY NEWS

As the 2026 rugby season draws towards a close, there is plenty to celebrate across the Alleygators.

From our youngest Gators through to our Senior teams, this season has been about building something bigger and stronger for the future of our Club.

2026 marked Year 1 of our Five-Year Strategic Plan that will take the Alleygators towards our 50th Anniversary in 2030.

Our theme for this year was “Building the Base” – and looking across the Club, we have certainly done that.

Next year we move into “Growing the Game”, and after what has been achieved in 2026, we are incredibly well positioned to do exactly that.

SENIOR RUGBY

For the first time since 2012, all three Alleygators Senior Men’s teams qualified for the finals.
That is a fantastic achievement for our Senior Rugby program and a reflection of the work that has gone in across our playing group, coaches, managers, volunteers and supporters throughout the year.

3RD GRADE
A COMPETITIVE FORCE AGAIN

Our 3rd Grade finished the regular season 3rd on the ladder, booking themselves a place in the Minor Semi Final against the Coomera Crushers.
Unfortunately, the boys went down 37–16 in a hard-fought battle.
We were always going to be up against it with injuries heading into the match – and it certainly doesn't help when Coomera seem to be the same size from prop to fullback!
While the result brought their season to an end, the bigger picture is extremely positive.
To have a genuinely competitive 3rd Grade side playing finals football is another important step forward for our Senior Rugby program, and the boys should be proud of what they achieved this year.
2ND GRADE – BACK-TO-BACK GRAND FINALS!

The defending Premiers are going back to the big dance!
After finishing the regular season 2nd on the ladder, our 2nd Grade earned a place in the Major Semi Final – setting up a Grand Final rematch against the Nerang Bulls.
And what a finish it was.
The boys secured a dramatic 27–25 victory in the closing minutes, booking their place in the Grand Final for the second consecutive year.
Now there is one job left to do.

 GRAND FINAL – THIS WEEKEND!
ALLEYGATORS v NERANG BULLS
1:00PM KICK-OFF | NERANG

It's a repeat of last year's Grand Final and another rematch of this year's Major Semi Final.
We want to see a SEA OF GREEN at Nerang as our 2nd Grade boys chase back-to-back Premierships!
Get the Green & White on, bring the family, bring your mates and get behind the boys.
GATORS SUPPORTER BUS

A supporter bus will run from the Club to Nerang for the Grand Final.
The bus will aim to depart the Club at approximately 10:30am.
Seats are limited and will be available on a first-in basis, so keep an eye on Club communications and social media for further details.
Let's pack Nerang with Gators and make sure the boys hear us!

ONE MORE GAME. ONE MORE JOB. UP THE GATORS!
1ST GRADE – A FINALS RUN TO BE PROUD OF

Our 1st Grade finished the regular season in 3rd position, meaning there was no second chance – every game from there was do-or-die.
First up was Surfers Paradise in the Minor Semi Final.
The boys made a statement.
A convincing 47–17 victory booked their place in the Preliminary Final against Griffith University Knights and put them just one win away from the Grand Final.
The Preliminary Final delivered everything you would expect from finals rugby.
In an incredibly tight and physical contest, our boys fought until the very end before Griffith snatched the result in the dying seconds, 21–18.
It was a heartbreaking way for the season to finish, but it takes nothing away from the progress this group has made.
Finals football is back for our 1st Grade, and there is plenty to build on heading into 2027.
CONGRATULATIONS DECLAN DINNEN
BOB SINCLAIR MEDALIST

A huge congratulations to Alleygators 1st Grade player Declan Dinnen, who was awarded the prestigious Bob Sinclair Player of the Year Award at last night’s Referees & District Annual Dinner.
What makes this award particularly special is that it is voted on by the referees and recognises the qualities a player demonstrates every time they take the field – fairness, sportsmanship, competitiveness, passion and that “give it your all” attitude.

For Declan to be recognised by the referees across the competition is an outstanding achievement and one that reflects not only the player he is, but the way he represents himself, his teammates and the Green & White.

It’s been a pretty special few weeks for Declan – becoming a new dad to William and now adding the Bob Sinclair Medal to the year!
A fantastic achievement and one the whole Club can be extremely proud of.

Congratulations Declan – thoroughly deserved!

Our U14s unfortunately went down in their Semi Final clash against Griffith Knights. Congratulations to the players, coaches, managers and families on their season and for representing the Green & White with pride.

Our U7s through to U11s are all entered in the Pirate Cup and are ready for a huge day of rugby on September 6.

Good luck to all our teams – most importantly, have fun!

WOMENS RUGBY
GATORS WOMEN – HISTORY IN YEAR ONE

What an inaugural season for our Gators Ladies!
Competing in the SEQ Women’s competition, which featured two pools of six teams, our Women finished the regular season as the 5th seed overall, earning themselves a place in the knockout Semi Final against Redlands.

Remarkably, the ladies missed securing a home Semi Final by just one competition point.
While their season ultimately came to an end in the finals, reaching a Semi Final in the very first year of the program is a milestone everyone involved should be extremely proud of.
More importantly, the foundations have been laid.

We are already receiving interest from players looking towards 2027, and after everything achieved this season, 2026 has provided an amazing building block for the future of Women’s Rugby at the Alleygators.

This is only the beginning.
GIRLS 7s – A FANTASTIC START TO THE SPRING SERIES

The Girls 7s Spring Series has kicked off with a bang for the Alleygators, with an incredible 52 girls already registered across our Girls 7s program.
Round 1 on Sunday, 10 August was particularly exciting, with many of our girls pulling on the Green & White and taking the field for their very first game of rugby.
It is fantastic to see so many new players giving rugby a go and is another great sign of the continued growth of the girls' game at the Alleygators.
Round 2 is set for Saturday, 13 September, and new players are still welcome to join!
Girls aged 10 (turning 10 this calendar year) through to 17 can get involved, regardless of previous rugby experience.
Round 2 will also see our Open Women's team join the 7s competition, further strengthening the pathway from Junior Girls through to Senior Women's Rugby at the Club.
With 52 girls already involved and our Open Women joining the action, the future of female rugby at the Gators is looking very exciting.
More girls. More rugby. More Gators.
THANK YOU
250 YOUNG GATORS IN GREEN & WHITE
One of the achievements we are most proud of in 2026 has been the continued growth of our Junior Rugby program.
This season we had a total of 250 registered Junior players wear the Green & White:

198 Boys | 52 Girls | 250 Gators

The continued growth of our Girls 7s program has been particularly exciting and demonstrates the opportunity we have to continue expanding rugby for girls and women across the Club.
These aren't simply registration numbers – they represent 250 young players, their families and the future of our Club.
We look forward to continuing to work with these players through the off-season and into our 2027 programs.

BUILDING THE BASE → GROWING THE GAME
2026 was the first year of our Club's Five-Year Strategic Plan leading into our 50th Anniversary in 2030.
The mission for Year 1 was simple:

2026 – BUILDING THE BASE
Looking back across the season, there are some great signs that the foundations are taking shape.
Three Senior Men's teams playing finals rugby for the first time since 2012.
An inaugural Women's team reaching the finals in its very first season.
A growing Girls Rugby program.
250 registered Junior players.
And hundreds of players, coaches, managers, volunteers, parents and supporters pulling on or getting behind the Green & White every weekend.
The foundations have been laid.
In 2027, we move to the next phase:

2027 – GROWING THE GAME
There is plenty of work ahead, but there is also plenty to be excited about.
THANK YOU COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS
A rugby club simply doesn't operate without volunteers.
With the move of Junior Rugby to Sundays this season, many of our Committee members and volunteers have effectively not had a weekend off since March.

Saturday Senior Rugby.
Sunday Junior Rugby.
Training nights.
Canteens.
Fields.
Equipment.
Game-day operations.
Coaching.
Managing.
Cleaning up.
Setting up.

And countless jobs behind the scenes that most people never see.
To everyone who has given their time this season – thank you.

The Club's Management Committee has also recognised the enormous effort that has gone into making
2026 such a successful year and would like to bring everyone together for a day of celebration.
A date and further details will be announced soon.

It will be a chance to celebrate the season and, importantly, thank the people who make our Club possible.
From our youngest Juniors to our Senior finalists, our inaugural Women's program and the volunteers working behind the scenes, 2026 has given us plenty to be proud of – and even more to build upon.

We started the year talking about Building the Base.
We finish it with a stronger base, more opportunities for our players and a clear direction for where we want to take the Club.
But first, there's still some rugby to be played.
Get behind our U17s.
And this weekend, let's turn Nerang GREEN & WHITE as our 2nd Grade chase back-to-back Premierships.

ONE CLUB. GREEN & WHITE. UP THE GATORS!
A BIG THANK YOU TO ALTR

A huge thank you to our Social Media Partner, Altr, for their incredible work throughout the 2026 season.
Our socials have never looked better, and the quality of the content and videos being produced has gone to another level, capturing everything that makes the Alleygators special – our rugby, our people and our Club.
The work behind the scenes to capture, create and share these moments doesn't go unnoticed, and it has made a huge difference to how we showcase the Green & White.
We have loved seeing the Gators brought to life across our socials this year and can't wait to see what Altr and the Gators can create together moving forward.
And if you've missed any of the action this season – where have you been?! Head over to our social media pages and catch up on the highlights, results, reels and everything happening around the Club.

Thanks Altr – outstanding work!
SOMETHING BIG IS COMING

You may have noticed something new starting to appear around the Gators...
GATORS RUGBY ACADEMY
We're not giving too much away just yet – but there are some exciting plans taking shape for 2027 as we continue to invest in the development of our players and the future of rugby at the Alleygators.
It all forms part of the next stage of our Five-Year Plan as we move from “Building the Base” in 2026 to “Growing the Game” in 2027.
COMING SOON...

In the Scrum Since Day One: Neumann Group and the Alleygators

Every great club has an origin story, and the Alleygators' is a good one. Back in 1979, a bunch of locals decided Palm Beach and Currumbin needed a rugby club of its own, minus one small detail: a home ground. As the story goes, the fledgling side made do wherever they could find a patch of grass, with Salk Oval lending a hand and the Palm Beach Pub serving as the closest thing to a clubhouse.

A few years on, the Neumann Group was carving out Currumbin Park Estate just up the road. Nearby, behind what would become the Currumbin Fair Shopping Centre on Bienvenue Drive, sat a stretch of land nobody wanted: swampy, boggy, and about as far from a rugby pitch as you could get. It might work as playing fields, the council figured, if only someone could fix the "swamp" part.

Enter Neumann's. The club asked for a few truckloads of sand to help reclaim the site. According to club legend, that request turned into truck after truck rolling in for days on end. Whatever the real number, the sand did its job, and the Alleygators finally had a home to call their own.

Grounds are one thing; you still need goalposts. When Neumann's was asked to fabricate a set, the story goes that Peter Neumann decided modest wouldn't do. If the Alleygators were getting posts, they were getting the tallest posts around, a claim the club proudly wore for years. There's just one hitch in the legend: when the team enquired about the second set, Peter reportedly asked, "Two goalposts? Can't they just all kick to the one end?" Turned out he'd only built one! A second set arrived shortly after.

That same spirit of quietly showing up and doing more than asked has carried through to today. More recently, Neumann Group sponsored and built the club's new Junior Canteen, giving the next generation of Alleygators a proper game-day hub, unveiled at a club Sponsors Day where the Neumann team was thanked for everything from that first load of sand to the newest slab of concrete.

It's fitting that "In the Scrum Since Day One" has become shorthand around the club, because in Neumann's case, it's not just a slogan — it's the truth. From reclaiming swampland to raising goalposts to building canteens, the partnership has always been about turning up and getting stuck in.

Today, that same hands-on capability is put to work well beyond the Alleygators' home ground, as the Neumann Group helps build infrastructure in Queensland and beyond. Amongst many other capabilities, the group is a critical minerals producer, a reinforcing steel manufacturer, and a TMR-certified structural steel fabricator with over 60 years' experience, delivering bridge steelwork, traffic infrastructure, marine fabrication, and custom architectural metalwork across Australia. The tools have changed and the projects have gotten bigger, but the approach hasn't: solve the problem, build it properly, and stick around.

Here's to the next few decades in the scrum together.
