PLAYERS PROFILE

ZOE HANNA

Our first Girls player profile this week starts off with one of our excellent U15’s Girls- Zoe Hanna. Zoe is from Casuarina way, and is into her 3rd year of Girls Rugby 7’s after starting out playing Netball, Oztag and Touch. Zoe was introduced to Rugby 7’s through her brother and family, and is now a Rugby nut herself- playing for our U15’s then backing up for our U17’s and anyone else that needs an extra player. The worst part of Rugby for Zoe is hard training when she’s tired haha, but she has a massive work rate out on the field and stands out even amongst the older Girls. Zoe’s goals are to play Rugby competitively and working towards starting a career in Rugby someday, and with the Cyclones representatives and State champs at the back end of the year, we’re sure Zoe will be a feature.

JEMMA BEMROSE

This week’s Girls player profile is one of many new comers to the club in 2018 and it’s also her 1st year playing Rugby Sevens- Jemma Bemrose from the U17’s Girls team. Jemma’s played a lot of touch and Oztag before trying her hand at Sevens as her school (Elanora SHS) started training and entered a competition. Her friends decided to start up a team, so they all joined. She remembers her first game as being very nervous and the contact was so new, but once she started it was plenty of fun while other Girls were supportive and giving advice as she was learning to play. Jemma’s favourite part is the tackling, often chasing across to cut off and chop the attackers in half, and she’s still not sure on the lineouts but is learning every training and gameday. She is very keen to stay in the game, and has also been playing with our Opens team on Fridays too, and would love to play at higher rep levels in the future also.

GRACE GRANVILLE

Grace Granville is coming into her 3rd season with the Gator Girls, after playing just about every other sport, she loves training with her mates and running the sprints at training. Grace initially had a friend ask her to come along to training, and then feel in love with the sport and hasn’t stopped playing since. Grace said she was very nervous before her 1st game, since she’d never played before, but excited at the same time. Grace was a member of the Gold Coast Cyclones U15’s team that was undefeated at state champs in 2018, and with another year in that age group, we can’t wait to see you get out there again Grace!!
