Update from the Swamp 🐊

MID-SEASON MOMENTUM

Half way through the season, and there's plenty to be excited about. With strong performances on the field and great support around the club, we're building momentum for an even bigger second half.

We're also looking forward to Sponsors Day on 13 June, a chance to celebrate the businesses and people who help make our club thrive.

Here's to a big back half of the season, both on and off the field! 🐊

RUGBY NEWS

1st Grade – Currently 5th on the ladder
2nd Grade – Currently 2nd on the ladder
3rd Grade – Currently 4th on the ladder
Women's – Currently 3rd on the ladder

1st Grade have experienced a few ups and downs this season and are still searching for consistency. Despite this, they have challenged every opponent week after week and remain highly competitive. With a strong run of home games in the second half of the season, we're hoping to use that advantage as a springboard into the finals and build valuable momentum at the right time.

2nd Grade remain one of the competition's benchmark teams. Despite a narrow loss to Nerang on the weekend, they showed they are still very much in the hunt for this year's premiership. Like 1st Grade, they will benefit from a favourable run of home games through the back half of the season, which should position them strongly for a deep finals campaign.

3rd Grade have proven themselves to be the battlers of the competition. Following the movement of players and teams across grades, they have often found themselves competing against players who would typically feature in higher divisions. Despite the challenge, they continue to fight hard and have suffered only the narrowest of defeats throughout the season.

Our Women's Team continues to exceed expectations and play an exciting brand of rugby. This season, the team is competing in the SEQ Women's Cup, which has resulted in more travel than anticipated. We are actively seeking additional players to strengthen the squad and ensure strong numbers throughout the remainder of the season. If you are interested in joining the team, please contact Rugby Administrator Stacey Smith.

OLD BOYS DAY

Old Boys Day and our annual Motor Neurone Disease (MND) fundraiser was another fantastic success. The Alleygators donated $100 for every senior try scored on the day, with the Gator Girls, Senior Men's 1st Grade and 2nd Grade sides crossing for a combined 18 tries, raising $1,800 for MND.

Our club raffles raised a further $1,005, bringing the total amount raised on the day to an incredible $2,805.

It was a fantastic day at the club, bringing together past and present members while celebrating milestone teams and seasons. The support shown by our community once again highlighted what makes the Alleygators such a special club.

JUNIOR RUGBY

Of all our junior age groups, our two oldest teams, the Under 14s and Under 17s, are leading the way this season, currently sitting outright second and first on their respective ladders.

The Under 17s continue to prove they are the team to beat in what is shaping up to be a very competitive competition.

We are still looking for additional players for our Under 12s and Under 13s teams. If you are interested in joining, please get in touch with our Rugby Administrator, Stacey Smith.

The Representative Round was held on 30 and 31 May, with several of our players taking the field for the Gold Coast Cyclones. They represented both themselves and the club exceptionally well, making the Alleygators proud.

Our younger age groups continue to embody the fun and enjoyment that rugby is all about, with plenty of support from mums, dads and families on the sidelines each weekend. It's been fantastic to watch these young players develop their skills, play exciting running rugby and continue to grow throughout their rugby journey.

We look forward to seeing our Alleygators community come together and support these important events throughout the season.

THANK YOU COACHES AND VOLUNTEERS

Lastly, we would like to give a special shout out to our fantastic coaches and volunteers. With competitions now spread across both Saturdays and Sundays for our senior and junior teams, many of these dedicated people give up their entire weekends to support the club. Whether they're on the sidelines coaching, working in the canteen, refereeing, or helping behind the scenes, their commitment does not go unnoticed.

We would like to recognise and thank them for the incredible effort they put in each week. Their hard work helps make it possible for our players to take the field week in and week out.

Thank you from everyone in the Alleygators family.
