Gators Win The 2024 Community Organisation of the Year🐊

We are very humbled and proud to receive the 2024 Community Organisation of the year award. Huge thanks to our wonderful community that voted for us and Laura Gerber for making these awards happen.

A huge thank you to our favourite students at Currumbin Community Special School. These legends have been helping out around the club all year. They do a great job and we absolutely love having them. We love our community and Gators family.

An inaugural lunch for Life Members was held on November 30th, attended by 20 members along with their partners. The event featured a sit-down meal with drinks, a special lunch menu, and concluded with a delightful cheese platter and a small glass of port. It was wonderful to have our first-ever Life Member, Neil Fraser, in attendance. Lanyards were distributed, featuring a photo from the moment Life Membership was awarded—those memories felt like just yesterday!

Mick, our President, shared updates about the club's progress, followed by Robbo and Jack, our first-grade coach, who discussed plans for the upcoming rugby season.

Everyone had a fantastic time, and we will schedule a similar event for next year.

A big Congratulations to our very own Scotty Marshall being awarded the Murray Felstead memorial club member of the year. He has given over 7 years of service and epitomises a true club man in every way.

We are pleased to announce recent enhancements to our facilities. Field 1 has received upgraded sprinklers, the oval has been topsoiled, and we now have improved drainage between Fields 1 and 2, which will help minimise puddling after rain. Additional work is planned for Fields 2 and 3 (behind Field 1) in preparation for the upcoming season.

Nominations for positions on the Management Committee are still open until Friday, December 6th. We invite all members to participate in the AGM, which will take place on Tuesday, December 10th at 6 PM.

Further improvements have been made to the Phil Temperton facility, including a new lock on the mezzanine door, the installation of new storage areas, and window frosting. We will continue to make enhancements as we grow.

The Alleygators coaching staff have recruited heavily for the 2025 season and are in desperate need of long-term accommodation, Rentals, Employment Opportunities and a cheap vehicle for the lads.

This year was a first year for our ever-faithful Roger Bush out on the field for the Alleygators. Roger has since accepted the role as Club Captain which sees him align with the Senior playing group, the Coaching staff and Rugby Committee to further improve our Rugby on and off the field. Roger has expressed how excited he is to keep the Gators community working together and improving the Rugby experience for all at the Club.

Roger was awarded the club's Rookie of the Year award as a first year Gator in 2024, with a well performed year on field in the front row, and his experience off the field, will see our Senior playing group grow together as our young players find their feet in Senior Rugby.

Recently 9 of our Junior Coaches signed up and attended both courses run by the QRU and GCDRU on a sunny weekend in November, and improved their Rugby accreditation and knowledge. Was great to see so many of our Junior coaches give up their time and put in work in preparation ahead of the 2025 season.

Well done to all attending the recent Club Working Bee. In an effort to tidy up the Rugby gear shed, the changing sheds, over growth out along the creek and general rubbish. Our volunteers certainly earned the couple of cold drinks post the clean up. Thanks again to all that assisted, and keep an eye out on dates for a pre-season Working Bee.

We are proud to announce our Senior Head Coach for 2025 will be Jack Moon. Returning to the fold after 2024's return to 1^st Grade, Jack will have an extended off season and pre-season with the playing group in preparation for a massive 2025. We're excited to see the development of the playing group under Jack's management and drive on and off the field which will allow our young Senior squads to perform week in/week out. 

Jack will be supported by two Coaches within the Senior Rugby program and as a current Level 3 Coach we see the Alleygators getting back to playing some awesome Rugby across the park. He's extra motivated to help the Alleygators to get back to contesting for silverware. 

Jason Croll will begin his journey as an Alleygator and lend his experience towards the Forwards and their development to contest matches vs the other clubs. Jason is completing his Level 3 course and with that has been a Cyclones level Coach across Boys and Girls Rugby over the last few years. 

Simon Rezo is a former player with the Gators, racking up over 200 games for the Green and Whites - plus 2x Tests for Croatia back in 2016! Rezo will add his knowledge around the Defence and Contact space with a very detailed eye, a great addition to the Coaching group with our young squads.

The Alleygators wish Jack, Jason and Simon all the best in 2025 and are looking forward to seeing the progress made under their guidance.

Over the weekend we had a stall up for promotion within the Fight for Youth Boxing Gym, looking to help out on the day and raise awareness. Although the weather wasn't great there was a good turnout and plenty of Alleygators Junior flyers handed out promoting the Rugby club for 2025. Great work team.

Junior registrations will be ready to roll out in the new year, see attached flyer for a pre-Christmas and New Year heads up. We will be announcing Junior sign on days, online rego process and all things Junior and Senior registrations once all information has been confirmed.
